Flucytosine for Chromoblastomycosis

For Chromoblastomycosis treatment, Flucytosine has been shown to be effective as monotherapy if there is in vitro resistance of dematiaceous moulds to Amphotericin B.

The combination of Flucytosine and Amphotericin B can also be used in the treatment of phaeohyphomycosis of the central nervous system, specifically caused by Xylohypha bantiana. Flucytosine is not effective in the treatment of blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis or sporotrichosis.
